Amit Sheokand is a young artist and educator from Chandigarh. He studied and practiced Law before giving in to his real passion— photography. He completed his post graduation in photography from the prestigious National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and his Masters in Fine Arts in Photography from UCA, Surrey. Amit is a faculty member at The One School, Goa.

His work is inspired from experience of being with oneself and around people. His practice is based around exploring photography as a self-referential medium. Amit’s work is quite intimate, spontaneous and often experimental. The artist uses various photo imaging technologies ranging from historic and alternative processes to modern-day digital cameras and software to create his unique artworks.

In one of his series of photographs, Amit manipulated disused negatives to visually represent the emotional lobe of the human brain. His photographs revolve around themes that bear a strong connect with the current state of mankind. They also capture human emotions in a very surreal manner.

Amit’s creative photography presents an interesting take on present times. His photographs are a form of cool art that would make for interesting home and office décor ideas. Well, it could be defined as modern art presented through the camera of a thinking lensman!
